# Licensing and provenance

This is an unofficial, independent OpenClaw community contributor proposal. No upstream adoption or endorsement is implied.

- Original site code and design-token definitions: MIT (see LICENSE).
- Original documentation and contributor-owned logo artwork: CC BY 4.0, to the extent contributors can grant those rights. Attribute OpenClaw Design Proposal contributors and identify changes. Licence: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
- Claw Sans, OpenClaw Display and historical OpenClaw Text font software: SIL Open Font License 1.1, with no Reserved Font Names. The exact OFL text is inside the font package and /fonts/OFL.txt.
- Character and material images: AI-assisted generations and edits of contributor-provided, earlier generated character references. Offered under CC BY 4.0 to the extent rights exist and can be granted. No exclusivity or universal copyright protection is asserted.
- Existing outlined logo masters are preserved from the contributor's approved Final Identity package; the font licence does not replace the artwork licence.
- OpenClaw, Apple, Vercel and other third-party names and marks remain with their owners. No trademark rights, brand-policy authority or endorsement are granted by these licences.
- Source links and short research summaries are supplied for attribution. Full Apple articles and book texts are not included.
- Starter code and installed dependencies retain their own licences; see package.json and package-lock.json for the dependency inventory. Bundled shadcn UI primitives retain the starter's upstream licence terms.

AI assistance: GPT-6 Astra research and type-development workstreams; image generation for eye-colour edits, shell material and layout concepts. Final page components and vector masters are actual source assets, not screenshots used as interfaces.

## Selected character references

Portrait: the approved Tail and Portrait front portrait. Body: the approved Natural Armour frontal character. Later rejected cape/tail studies were not used. Edit scope: soft blue irises, restrained pink warmth, preserved friendly facial geometry, rounded shell and palette. Generated editing may alter fine texture; it is not pixel-identical or a registered 3D model.

The generated images are visual proposals, not biological studies, validated child-safety claims or hardware-ready assets. The shell macro is not a seamless texture.

## Revision 0.2 additions

The Text 0.2 release adds original hinted font files and an original measurement pipeline under OFL 1.1. The live-character package adds three generated poses, alpha masters, lossless WebP encodings and an authored planar skinned mesh. Rendering-pipeline background matting is documented in its provenance; no RGB source colour channels were changed by that step. Original rig/viewer/build source: MIT. Generated and contributor-owned artwork: CC BY 4.0 to the extent rights can be granted. WebGL uses the browser API directly; no new rendering-engine dependency was added.

Apple app-icon files are authored unmasked SVG layer studies. They do not contain Apple artwork or a compiled Icon Composer asset. Native appearance qualification remains separate.

## Revision 0.3 additions

The Blender character, room, furniture, choreographed movement and texture baking are original procedural authoring using the approved material image as an input. Authoring scripts and the scene viewer: MIT. Contributor-owned scene artwork and derived textures: CC BY 4.0 to the extent rights can be granted. The model is a new 3D interpretation; the approved illustrations remain separately preserved. No furniture-manufacturer model, Pixar asset or third-party character mesh is included.

Blender 4.5 LTS is used as an external authoring tool; its application binary is not included. Three.js 0.185.1 is used for browser rendering under its MIT licence. Dependency licensing remains in its installed package. Textured appearance reuses the approved shell macro (compressed for delivery); it does not introduce a new trademark or claim to be an Apple material.

## Revision 0.4 typography

OpenClaw Text 0.3 is original contributor font software under SIL OFL 1.1, without Reserved Font Names. It extends the previous original font source; no third-party typeface was renamed or incorporated. It includes ten static faces and source/metrics/proofs. The old Text 0.2 fonts are retained solely as previous-release assets and the labelled comparison. Display and fixed-logo rights remain as documented above. The review links primary articles and source coverage; full books or social feeds are not bundled.

## Revision 0.5 typography and Fontra handoff

OpenClaw Text 0.4 and its original editable outlines are OFL 1.1 font software without Reserved Font Names. The original font source lineage remains intact; no third-party typeface outlines have been incorporated. Fontra, FontTools, ufoLib2 and ufo2ft are external tools used for source preparation and verification, with their own upstream licences. Fontra's GPL application is not bundled into the downloadable font files or website. Contributor conversion/verification helpers are MIT; font software remains OFL 1.1. Text 0.3 is preserved as the explicitly labelled previous-release comparison.

## Colourless glass material

The glass concept and surface crop are reference-guided AI-generated material
illustrations derived from the contributor's Claw direction. WebP files are
encoded copies. Contributor-owned images are offered under CC BY 4.0 to the
extent rights exist and can be granted; CSS and packaging helpers are MIT.
Baked lighting does not constitute a physical material scan, seamless PBR set,
native Apple Liquid Glass implementation or Apple artwork. The earlier coloured
character and material references remain separate.

## Revision 0.6 contour repair

OpenClaw Text 0.5 retains the original OFL 1.1 font lineage, without Reserved Font Names. The 0.4 release remains an explicitly labelled historical comparison. New outlines and editable source are font software under OFL 1.1; review and conversion helpers remain MIT. Fontra is an external application, not a bundled component.

## Claw Sans 0.6

Claw Sans is the renamed and refined continuation of the original OpenClaw Text contributor font software, SIL OFL 1.1 without Reserved Font Names. No third-party typeface was renamed or incorporated. Previous releases retain their original names and provenance. The editable UFO/Fontra outlines remain OFL; the conversion and verification helpers remain MIT. Fontra is an external editor, not distributed in the Site or font package. This is an unofficial contributor proposal; the new name is a design choice, not a trademark clearance claim.

## Character-derived transparent shell relief

Shell relief v2 is a reference-guided AI reconstruction of the approved character's
rounded plates. The reference WebP is an encoded copy of the original portrait.
The relief bitmap and embedded image in shell-glints-v2.svg are contributor artwork,
CC BY 4.0 to the extent rights exist and can be granted. The SVG lighting recipe,
CSS and build helper are MIT. The SVG contains genuine alpha transparency and
neutral shading; it is not a measured PBR scan or native Apple Liquid Glass.
Provenance and exact generation prompts are in public/character/shell-relief-v2.json.

## Claw Sans 0.7

Continues the original contributor family under SIL OFL 1.1. The refinement and its source are included in Claw-Sans-0.7.zip; editable UFO/Fontra files and exact proof evidence are separate downloads. No third-party font outlines were imported.
